200 days pregnant!!

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

So please don’t think I am counting days…..I get this daily pregnancy email (which to be honest I never read) I have read it maybe three times. But today I decided to check and sure enough I am 200 days pregnant! Can you believe it!

Things that I have discovered about being pregnant (don’t worry it is not a list of 200)

-if you get food (ie yogurt) on the lower part of your belly you can smear it all over a lot of things without even knowing it…or at least until your husband says hey you’re getting food everywhere

-maternity nylons exist (although they are VERY uncomfortable)

-everyone wants to know your due date…tattoo it on your forehead early on so no one asks you…who am I kidding I love to be asked!!!!

-there is no shame in crying over spilled milk…literally….I spilled milk and it made me VERY upset

-everyone will offer to help you with anything….I started off not taking people up on it until one of my school’s principals pointed out to me that it is the only time that people will ever do that including a second or third pregnancy

-chocolate is VERY GOOD!!!

-sleeping through the night (when it actually happens) is amazing!

-my body is amazing….it can grow a little human being …that hopefully has red hair!

well I guess this is all I can think of right now…well at least all of the things that I am willing to share on the Internet!

I am feeling great still. Starting to feel a little on the chubby side. I am enjoying the time that Alex and I get to spend together, just the two of us! We went out to all you can eat sushi for valentines day. We went to the place we went on our first date - Sui Sha Ya. I definitely was disappointed in my performance! My stomach does not have nearly enough room anymore for all you can eat!

Hope that everyone had a fabulous Valentines Day!

Names names Names names!!!!

Oh my……we are going in circles! The big name debate…what do you name your baby……

So Alex and I are still tossing around names! We can’t seem to come up with a name that we want to stick with.  Working with a lot of kids has made me conscious of NOT choosing common names and also not choosing names that are so confusing that the poor child gets called a new name every day.

So if you have any advice or suggestions for names please reply with a comment! We are taking suggestions!

Now on a totally new topic I am 28 weeks today…..okay so this is getting a little scary.  The other lady that is pregnant at my office just left on her maternity leave and so now I am starting to get in a panic….so much to do so little time.  We are still not even nearly done with the bathroom renos as well as the baby room is still not set up at all.  I can’t believe how much I have to do….I only have 34 more workdays left of work which is really scary! oh boy…now I am getting myself all riled up!

I know it will all sort itself out and I am sure we will get everything done but wow… where does the motivation come from?

27 Weeks

The little bambino is growing! Doesn’t seem like much lately…..but I keep on getting comments on how big my belly is getting. Not really much new to be honest! We have been given so much furniture that it seems that all we need now is a stroller, a car seat, a dresser and a rocking chair. It is amazing the cost involved in getting all of these things ready for a baby! and like I said we were lucky cause we got most things given to us or bought them with gift money! We still need to get together a lot of the smaller things like clothes, cloths, blankets, diapers, etc!!!!! I am sure if you are a mom then you know of all of the little things! I really need to get going on putting together the nursery….because I am getting nervous (what else is new!). I am turning 27 this weekend…..how crazy is that! Not much luck in the sleep department lately….have been waking up at 315ish every night….and so here I am writing this blog message so you will understand if there are typos or the note doesn’t make sense! That is it for now!

How your baby’s growing: Your baby is really starting to fill up your uterus. This week he weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn’t bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. Wonder what he’s thinking?

How your life’s changing:

Your body is gearing up for the final lap, so you may start noticing some new symptoms. Along with an aching back, for example, you may find that your leg muscles cramp up now and then. They’re carrying extra weight, after all, and your uterus is putting extra demands on your circulation. (As your uterus expands, it puts pressure on the blood vessels that return blood from your legs to your heart and on the nerves leading from your trunk to your legs.) Unfortunately, the cramps are likely to get worse as your pregnancy progresses. Leg cramps are more common at night but can also happen during the day. Flexing your foot (by pointing your toes forward and then flexing them back toward your shins) stretches the calf and should give you some relief. Walking for a few minutes or massaging your calf sometimes helps, too.
